By layering style elements and having a clear color palette,  you can create flexibility to blend an unconventional mix of styles in the farmhouse.For this newly added family room, the homeowners had a vision for coastal style for their farmhouse – fresh, airy, blue and white with a relaxed vibe. They also have a love for travel and Indonesian, African and South American decor – intricate carved wood, natural dyed textiles, unique print patterns and hand-crafted metals. These are the makings of an amazing, eclectic mix that can easily feel disconnected if not done thoughtfully. A color story is important in creating a cohesive look. From the coastal design style, we pulled the quintessential elements to create a room palette – blue, white, natural linen, and distressed wood finishes.
 
Here, the foundation is timeless and classic with a navy, rolled-arm sofa, an oatmeal linen armchair, and an oversized leather ottoman. Layering and mixing in the global accents with African mudcloth textile, expressionist, abstract art, and natural materials give this space a welcoming and well-traveled feel and achieve our goal.
